Mentor Graphics Files New Patent Infringement Suit against Cadence
WILSONVILLE, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2002--Mentor Graphics
Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT - News) today announced that its IKOS Systems
subsidiary has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in Delaware US
District Court against Cadence Design Systems and its Quickturn
subsidiary.
The filing, docket no. 02-1335, states that Palladium, a
Cadence/Quickturn hardware emulation system, infringes on United
States Patent No. 5,847,578, "Programmable Multiplexing Input/Output
Port". The patent was awarded to IKOS Systems in 1998 on the basis of
original work done in the company"s Waltham, Massachusetts facilities.
IKOS Systems was acquired by Mentor Graphics in March 2002. IKOS,
Cadence and Quickturn are all Delaware companies.
